2018 Moranbah Photography Exhibition
The 2018 Moranbah Photography Exhibition, which featured local photography artists of the Moranbah community, was held in the Isaac Regional Council’s Coalface Art Gallery, during the month of May.
The collection showcased in the Coalface’s Art Gallery consisted of photographs of the community’s residents, beautiful landscape and local events captured in action.
Over the years, Moranbah and District Support Services and the Connecting Communities Program have supported local resident artists in their range of mediums and the programs that they have created for our community. Our mission is to represent the interests of all residents, promote the liveability within Moranbah, and promote support for the community.
To showcase local photography artists, the Moranbah Photography Competition was created to engage all new residents and existing community members to take photographs of the community through their lens of cameras, tablets, or phones. This event gave the community of Moranbah an opportunity to connect with others, become active, establish a sense of connection in the community, while showcasing the beauty and unique qualities of our community.
On 29 May 2018, the winners of the Moranbah Photography Competition were announced. Our Community Category Winners: Claire Williams, Joanne Mulcahy, and Trysett le Garde. Our People Category Winners: Trysett le Garde and Natasha-Ann Deller. Youth Category Winners: Jayden Eglinton, Jessie Earl, Zachary Mulcahy and Typhoon le Garde.
After the announcement of winners, all the prints were auctioned off with all proceeds supporting community programs and events.
Moranbah and District Support Services and the Connecting Communities Program would like to acknowledge Community Radio 4RFM and the Isaac Regional Council, and thank our major sponsor BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) for their generous contributions in making this exhibition a reality.
