MORANBAH CLUBS FAIR 2016

Kimberly Lehto-Head - Tuesday, March 08, 2016

Moranbah Clubs Fair
Moranbah, Queensland – (February 28, 2016)

Moranbah groups, clubs and organisations were on show to attract new members at the recent Moranbah Clubs Fair.

Combined with the regular Moranbah monthly market day, the Fair proved to be a bustling success with many clubs seeing increased interest.

“The Moranbah Clubs Fair was a great way to see all the different opportunities for getting involved in the community.  It helped me to discover that the Tennis Club is offering lessons and now I’m going to join”, said local resident Kari Dahlgren.

Organisers from the Moranbah & District Support Services Neighbourhood Program and the Connecting Communities Program were excited by the growing number of participants at the second annual Moranbah Clubs Fair.

“Joining a local group is a great way to meet new people and provides fantastic opportunities for socialising. The Fair demonstrates the variety and calibre of clubs and groups we have on offer in our community,” said Connecting Communities Program Coordinator Kimberly Head.

Local clubs and groups also invited to an information session with Daniel Bright from Sport and Recreations Services division of the Department of National Parks, Sport and Racing.

The Moranbah BMX Club was one club pleased to be able to take advantage of this information session.

“Not only was it great to be able to discover the funding and grant options available to local sporting groups, it was also fantastic to listen to Daniel Bright whose enthusiasm and commitment to local grass-roots sporting clubs in the Mackay and Isaac Region was both refreshing and encouraging,” said Fiona Branch.

“After a brief conversation at the end of this session, Daniel made time to come down to our club and discuss at length with our committee, the steps needed to move forward positively and productively this year as our club goes through some major upgrades.  We are so grateful to have had the support, knowledge and information from Daniel which has left us better equipped to not only more confidently manage our club, now and into the future, but to also to have the awareness of how to access funding to assist us in growing the club.”

MDSS and the Connecting Communities Program would like to acknowledge and thank their major sponsors BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA), Isaac Regional Council and the Moranbah Freemasons for their generous contributions.  We would like to thank the following clubs, groups and organisations that participated in the Moranbah Clubs Fair.
